The Importance of Certification
The certification phase is arguably the most critical. Regulatory authorities require manufacturers to prove that the new design can withstand extreme scenarios far beyond normal operations. This includes demonstrating that the wings can flex to extreme angles without snapping, that the aircraft can take off safely even if an engine fails at a critical moment, and that the braking system can stop a fully loaded, aborted takeoff without catching fire.
